First and foremost, thank you to everyone that took part in the latest edition of “Hot or Not?” We are most grateful for all of your patronage and the comments that many of you make to keep our little site running! Thanks much!
But I am sure the majority of viewers clicked for the big news: congratulations to the Scars of Mirrodin “Hot or Not?” winner, Martin! Martin correctly guessed the price of Mox Opal and had the “second best” guess choice in each of the other three contests; when you’re hot, you’re on fire! Martin, please contact us through the e-mail that you used to register with MTGOAcademy.com at mtgoacademy@gmail.com to claim your 100 bot credits on MTGOcardtraderbot; make sure to include the Magic Online username where you would like to receive the credit.
But Wait, There’s More…
Three other contests were trailing Martin by just one point in the overall competition! Kensiky, juggernaut1002 and xecho were right behind the big winner with some awesome guess work; each will awarded 10 bot credits on MTGOcardtraderbot as a sweet (or perhaps bitter) consolation! To claim your credit, please contact us through the e-mail that you used to register with MTGOAcademy.com at mtgoacademy@gmail.com to claim your 10 bot credits on MTGOcardtraderbot; make sure to include the Magic Online username where you would like to receive the credit.
The Final Results
For those interested, this is how each contest shaped up:
- First Challenge- Only a three Premier Events fired for Standard since the beginning of the Prerelease events: #1672024 on 10/16/2010, #1672025 on 10/17/2010, and #1711829 on 10/30/2010. Koth of the Hammer showed up 14 times in these three Top 8s. Neither Venser nor Elspeth showed up in any of them! Luckily, two copies of Venser, the Sojourner popped up in the Top 32 of the Player of the Year tournament to settle who is second best to Koth! It looks like the new Elspeth Tirel is just a shadow of her former self!
- Second Challenge- At the end of October 31, 2010, Hand of the Praetors was worth a small amount more than Grand Architect, the second highest valued card. Ezuri, Renegade Leader came in third, with Myr Battlesphere in a far back fourth place finish.
- Third Challenge- As stated prior, at the end of October 31, 2010, Mox Opal had fallen to a measly 10 tix. What were these worth during the paper preorders?!?!
- Fourth Challenge- The first (and only) Standard Premier Event this past weekend, the Player of the Year MOCS, featured a sparse 69 SoM cards! Three decks had a whopping 0 Scars cards (go Valakut!), while another deck picked up the slack with a hefty 29 between its main and side.
