End it now! Draft another older sets until Innistrad hits. It’s always good to end on a high note.
Thanks for bringing Numot on, too. You guys do good work together.
M3G2 you could have Divine Favored his Pacified Ogre to give yourself one more turn to draw Plains. You probably still die, but just wanted to note it.
Mr. Bouncy-Pants, Marshall? I approve of this moniker.
Loved this draft guys, I feel like you both played really tight and the draft portion was pretty sick. I can’t remember seeing a draft where there were that many difficult picks in the same color.
Normally I only chime in when I have something to bring up or a play to call into question…. I didn’t see any this time, but I did want to comment that I love having the duality drafting vids. Marshall flying solo is good at it gives me my weekly fix, but it’s not AS good.
Also… remember retro drafts? Those were awesome.
That blog sounds awesome!!!

I laughed out loud when you guys called the fireslinger in game 2 round1. That was awesome, and watching these videos just makes my day (as well as making me a better player, all it all pretty sweet).
Thanks
The beautiful angel got dumped.
Thanks for a very enjoyable draft video. Your commenting was clear and thoughful. And the matches were good. It was a pleasure to watch.
Cheers,
EE
Just a few comments on your draft.
First, Serra Angel is always better than Pacifism, even if it is your third Serra Angel vs your first Pacifism. Threats are better than answers, and Sengir is better than Doom Blade for the same reason. You could make an argument for O-Ring vs Serra Angel because it deals with every threat in the format, but that’s a different discussion.
The second, and this is a minor nitpick, but Pack 2 Pick 12 you have a choice between Hideous Visage, Fog, Land and Bangchuckers. You take the Goblins, but Fog is the obvious correct choice. Not only is it a fringe playable card vs act of treason or Crumbling Colossus, but it is actually great against Overrun. It doesn’t hurt for signaling purposes either.
one of the best part of my friday’s is watching another limited resources draft. (well that, and it’s the end of the work week).

Good stuff. Made it look pretty easy there, guys.
Only play I really disagreed with was Titanic Growthing your Lawkeeper M3G1 to take out Arsonist. With him having RB up there are so many removal spells that blow you out and that he would have been happy to use on Lawkeeper anyways.
Also, in regards to your comments on Day of Judgment at the end of the draft: you said that those last couple games were an extreme low for DoJ and I disagree. DoJ would have been insane in both M3G2 and M3G3 and the only reason it wasn’t was because you didn’t draw a second plains. It’s still a bit swingy, yes, but not being able to get 2WW by turn 10 or whatever is not really an example of that. It’s just a bit of bad luck and maybe an example of why Garruk’s Companion and Overrun can sometimes be a bit of a strain on your mana base.
That serra angel/pacifism pack was a heartbreaker, I think I would have picked up serra angel but I imagine your pick was correct as you had a pretty low curve and pacifism allows you to get in more small beats early on.
Love the content, love that you’re going weekly and I also love me some Numot! Go clan LR!
Rd 2 Game 1, when you replay the mage after drawing the 2nd one, you really should have played the veteran and traded that off. Then, if you draw a land next turn (which you did), you can drop both mages and still hold up crown. Then you can trade off a mage and still have one active. Maximizing your mana in situations like that are very important.
@marc
but the opp didn’t know (and probably could never have guessed) that marshall had a 2nd jade mage already in hand. playing the jade mage first and accepting the trade is much better than trading with the veteran (which has the ability to be an outstanding basher).
Fantastic video guys keep them coming. Made my morning to get to enjoy watching solid draft play and those amazing called top decks.
Thanks guys, really enjoyed the video.
Old MTG player, new to MTGO/M12. Looking forward to playing some M12 draft after watching this vid!
Great video as always. I probably take angel over pacifism in most cases but I actually support your line of reasoning. It’s hard ti win games without removal.
In match 3 when you had arachnus web and basilisk un hand while he had onyx Mage and ogre up you were thinking for a bit on which one to web. You had been holding basilisk bc he could kill it with first strike and death touch via Mage. From listening to your conversation it sounded like you were only evaluating webbing Mage or ogre based purely on combat relevance (attacking and blocking). While that is an important aspect of web, did you realize that it shuts off activated abilities as well?
Obviously it all worked out but you could have webbed his mage and ate his ogre. I know you considered webbing mage but it sounded like you were just wanting to keep one from attacking.
Keep up the great work!
love having kenji along for the drafts
@ Brian – Ya it’s always tough when the new set is out IRL yet not on MTGO. I do think you can learn a lot from core set draft, but it does get perhaps a bit dry Kenji will be back for sure as well.
@ Cody B We could have played Divine Favor on *his* Pacified Ogre to get another turn at a plains? I might be missing something but I’m not sure how that gets us another turn?
@ Zach Mr. Bouncy-Pants indeed I will someday get all the info and such together for another Retro-draft, and I agree that having guests is awesome. I will be doing this frequently
@ Mdal Hahah we did too. I mean I don’t want it to come off as rub-ins or whatever for our opponent or anything. But yes it was really funny for us at the time too
@ MonKei Sometimes you gotta go with the solid girlfriend instead of the flashy Angel
@ EElemental – Appreciate you saying so EE On some sites and with some drafters, people on chime in when they have some complaint or trollish thing to say. Not here though, you guys are awesome.
@ BT Saying Serra Angel is *always* better than Pacifism is a really poor way to start this discussion. I disagree wholeheartedly with your statements about threats always being better than answers as well. Every deck needs some level of both, and ours wanted Pacifism more at the time than the Angel. It was a very close pick of course, and the Angel would have served us well I presume, but we needed that removal and I think it was correct.
I agree that we should take Fog there instead of the Chuckers.
@ dasMetzger Great to hear sir, and honored to be mentioned anywhere near “end of work week bliss” Auch, vielen dank fuer anschauen
@ Vis We really ran very well for the draft to be honest. I think your points about usign Titanic Growth on the Lawkeeper were totally valid, it was a risk for sure.
@nolander Ya that pick was brutally close. I think we were correct, but it would have been ok to go either way I think. Serra acts as a form of removal herself in a lot of board states. Thanks for the love too!
@marc @dasMetzger Like metzger said, I like being able to follow-up bash a bit better with the Veteren.
@darksky602 Thanks, and will do! Kenji and his called topdecks.. Not sure how he does it!
@anonymous Here to serve you sir Get some M12 in before Innistrad comes out!
@acidbather Thanks for the comments, appreciated Yes we were just being thorough but I was defnitely aware of the web shutting off the Mages ability. I’m sure Kenji was as well
@nathones I do too, he will be back I promise
Hello
Just an observation, Greater Basilisk when blocked with overrun only needs to deal 1 damage to a creature, you can deal the remaining damage to the player because of deathtouch. Nice draft!
pacifism was definitely the pick over the serra angel. you need to take what removal you can get in green-white
We just need to draw overrun more often so we don’t have to do that whole math business
