I’m only in Game 1 but you are in the perfect position to use Agoraphobia in your Simic deck – you cast it on YOUR creatures to get more evolve triggers – first on your Crocnura so any other creature grows it, then flip it over to Simic Fluxmage for more counters – that’s what you do in a stall with infinite mana, Agorapophia, and Simic evolve creatures! Usually you are never in that position!
Passing Sapphire Drake for a Basillica Screecher is just absurd.
sweet draft, well played games!
I do agree with Yoda, though. Saphire Drake IS a 6 drop and you don’t want too many of those, but it’s one of the best possible 6 drops in a simic deck plus it’s a really strong signal that Simic is open and you shouldn’t pass it.
Did you guys notice, that Arrows of Justice deal 4 damage? Seems like you didn’t.
Liked the Draft and Commentary. Keep it up.
I really like the content but you HAVE to listen to your friend if you are doing a partnered draft. For example in m1g1 he said attack with frog lizard but you attacked with frilly boy instead, which only cost you two more extra mana and your best blocker. There were other similar instances and i have seen the same in some of your other videos. I understand that you have your way of playing but there is no sense in a partner draft if you don’t use your partner :/
Hey Marsh, I’m here to be That Guy!
At 20:22 in the third round you are debating how to survive the 3/3 Kingpin’s Pet. Evolving the Cloudfin Raptor is correct, but you missed what I think is the superior line (and Matt Tabak came to the same conclusion, so it must be right):
Pass the turn, hope your opponent attacks in with the pet. Activate the “comes in with additional +1/+1″ ability on the guildmage, then cast Shambleshark, It enters as a 3/2 and evolves the Cloudfin and you get to eat the pet instead of just holding it off.
Enjoyed the vid!
Sapphire Drake is the stone NUTS in Simic, I can’t believe you passed it.. it wins you so many games that you just didn’t deserve.
Agoraphobia over Sprite is just as insane.
And taking Gideon when you’re recording is super lame. It’s like 3 or 4 freakin tix, big deal. There was a Drakewing Krasis which is unbeatable when curving out and worth way more than 3 tix if you’re trying to win an 8-4.
Thoroughly disappointed.
For your math, the chance to hit 2 creatures is at best 32.435% That’s for a deck with 23 creatures, which should be the max you ever get in limited.
Of course you can construct situations, where your opponent has drawn 10 cards and still has all creatures left, but calculating with the starting distribution seems more reasonable
I like the first microphone better,it may be lower quality but it sounded better to me the second one it also picks up everything the first mic just picked up your voices, you can hear the computer fan and you just sound “distant”
Guys, arrows of justice does 4 damage. Don’t play around cards you don’t know!
Coerced Confession mills 4 cards, so you average 2+ cards if they have >= 20 creatures in their deck. That’s usually not the case, and even if it is a 5 mana divination is not usually exciting. It’s better in a deck where the mill also matters.
I agree with above comments on the draft and the thing most disturbed me was also “attack with the frog lizard” and you not doing that, BUT I enjoy every single draft vid that you make, its tons of laugh and an average player can learn so much from them. Plus having constructive debates + handling different opinions + still keeping an eye on the clock makes it even a bit tougher. Keep up the good work!
1) Agree with lord Hosk. First mic sounded better to me too.
2) Anon is right about arrows, was waiting for one of you to realize this (at least when he finally DID have arrows in G2). The shadowmoor R/W hybrid “arrows” were the ones that did 3 damage (but to any # of targets).
3) Simic is a tough guild to draft and play at times! I think there were a couple of evolve lines you missed or did not choose to follow that I would have preferred, but to me the biggest mistake was not countering the 4/5 scarab in R1G1. The way your hand set up you needed to counter pretty much anything on that turn, and while the 4/5 wasn’t that big of a deal letting it resolve locked up your mana for several turns, and probably was the single biggest reason for that game dragging on so long.
4) GTC is so much more fun to watch and play than RTR. Its not just that the format is new, the interlocking P/T is much more interesting that 2/2s and 3/3s mashing into each other.
off color screecher over drake i literally hulk hogan t-shirted my scrotum and became Lord Cum Scum
