This week I had a whole series of decks planned out dealing with various builds for green decks. Unfortunately all my replays, about 15, were lost during the recent update. Instead, I built a Commander deck after being inspired by our very own Travis Chance. So I decided to do my article on that instead. Of course I added my own little budget twist spending no more the 40 tickets on the deck. In all the deck may run 50-55 tickets when accounting for cards I already owned. I am planning to make this a possible article format, by exploring Commander on a budget. Mainly because it approaches the format from the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of control, I went for pure aggro. So go ahead and dive in… and yes, I do realize I am apparently incapable of properly saying Stonebrow, Krosan Hero.
Deckbuild
Game 1
Game 2
There we have it! Thank you for watching and depending on comments I will either return to my Casual Extended articles or continue to focus on budget Commander decks. Let me know below. The two possible topics for upcoming articles are the expansion of the Commander deck into new colors which will require new generals and create new possibilities. The other possibility is a continuation of the one-shot deck articles. As a sidenote: Zimbardo, I did include Aggravated Assault as per your suggestion from the last article. Too bad Verdant Succession is horrible in Commander.

The more edh vids the better … good job
…you left out my pet card which seems nice here … Panglacial Wurm .. its got the trample and it looks like you have enough deck search to take advantage of it.
The Greater Good add you mentioned is a must.
FTK would be a nice red bounce target for the Shivan Wurm … but it isn’t the strongest card in the format
Awesome! Love LOVE edh vids..please keep em’ coming..very entertaining indeed.
I like your points rush. And Ill address them one by one
Panglacial Wurm- Last I heard, which was months ago, this card was bugged. I never heard of any fixes one way or another and neither did I check. So I thought it was still bugged. If not then you’re correct it is wroth looking into.
Greater Good- I still really want to add this into the deck. I am just unsure what to cut. It was going to take World at War’s spot but that card is really really good.
FTK- Somehow I just forgot this guy existed(duh!) But you’re right he would be great in that slot.
momentous fall, deus of calamity, and blitz helion would be great in here. loxodon warhammer as well to give your non tramplers trample, aka gargadon, et al.
Flame Tongue Kavu stinks in this format in my opinion, 100CS it is great, but the only thing its taking out is a utility creature EDH and will be a dead draw IMO, but removal is what the deck was lacking anyways.
Manic Vandal is def and autoinclude from M11, much like Fauna Shaman should. Imperial Recruiter fetches those 2 and many of your utility creatures and beaters. If you go with Fauna Shaman, you can add Squee to the build, as well.
Godo, Bandit Warlord would be nice to see, as it tutors, possibly adding Loxodon Warhammer with the benefit of getting some lifegain in the deck, if behind. It also has the addition attack phase theme.
Worldy Tutor is missing from the deck. Even though their isnt anything you really need to search out, in a 100 card deck its nice to have that reach.
Woodfall Primus should have been included from the beginning. It is extremely useful and it has trample, which seemed to be a them in your deck.
I really seen the Shivan Wurm, as hampering your board presence to only gain a fatback.
Overall the deck seemed fun to play with, and 34 lands is light IMO…38 is the bare minimum I think, but your deck didnt seem to have too much trouble with it, but dipping under 38 can spell hard times.
BTW, can you remove the tin can from your microphone or stop recording in the bathroom, either or….lol
lol the recordings were made in a college dorm room so that might have issue with the acoustics or I just have an awful voice.im going to lean towards the dorm room though.
As far as lands I do always feel a little iffy with the 34 lands. it did work like you mentioned but i was never super-comfortable with it. Primus has actually been purchased since i finished the videos, Im just massaging him in still. Worldly Tutor is a maybe right now. Mostly because of price but since I plan on doing a Mayael deck next it certainly would be a good card to pick up. As far as Godo, it is worth a look.
I really like the deck and most of your card choices.
It’s so timmy but so potent nonetheless.
The only thing I’m missing is a bit more CA and maybe some ramping in form of creatures.
I’m talking Yavimaya Druid/Elder and such.
You could then also add Overrun the create INSANE effects with your general.
If youre liking the idea you could also get a Garruk which would be great anyways, aswell as Kamahl, Fist of Krosa and the new M11 Overwhelming Stampede, as soon as it’s on Modo. When it comes to cutting I would cut at the higher end of your curve and cut the less synergistic stuff like Traiterous Instincts, World at War and Insurrection, which you won’t be needing if you build up more synergies with your general, I think.
Maybe you might cut Dragon Mage and some of the big dragons aswell (but certainly not the Hot Redhead ).
Let’s see where this deck is heading and keep up the good work!
i’ve had alot of succes with Skarg, the rage pits. doesnt look that much. but it proved very handy. and fits the theme
and garruk really wants to join the party!
Yeah, like dirtydeeds said, you sound muffled, and I don’t think it is your voice. So you can try to fix that next time!
I also think 34 is a bit light, since you play a bunch of 7+ drops, but since you have trouble with cutting stuff already, maybe you can just try to fit in 35-36 for now?
Also, have you tried/thought of gift of the gargantuan? it can find a land and a creature, which is pretty useful and seems good in your deck, though I haven’t tested it in a 100 card deck so I couldn’t tell you how much it whiffs on one or either.
you were talking about the dragon magus as being a wheel of fortune if it hits. I was thinking that if you wanted a wheel of fortune effect, maybe you could play, wheel of fate, as it is much cheaper to cast (also cheap to buy too most likely) and easier to control (if he’s removed because people want to protect their hands then you get nothing out of it)
An efficient beater with a good ability is Burning Tree Shaman, though he doesn’t have trample…
Lastly, bloodbraid elf seems like a good include, and bounce target for your shivan wurm thing.
(Price is dropping pretty low now, and doesnt cost anything if you happen to own one already)
KAHMANDAH!
For some reason i read that as KALI-MAH!
I enjoyed the deck, but I defiitely prefer the playback option (i.e. “Game 1″). The other games just take SO LONG.
I didn’t even finish watching the second game. After I noticed it was a ‘live’ match (5 seconds in) I stopped it
Anyway first game was cool to see and it was nice to see some aggro doing well, even though that’s not my cup of tea usually. But in commander I think it’s more fun if you let everyone play their deck and do stuff, so aggro is perfect to play. No one can be upset at someone smashing in with GR centaurs, right?
