  1. Enjoyable draft. Especially interesting first and third matches. I thought this was one of the better drafts you guys have done for MTGO Academy.

Congrats to both Marshall and Ryan on their announcements, as well. Ryan, do you think they’ll let you play in the Community Cup on Team WotC? :p

  2. I love seeing a non-infect deck draft video. Every video I have seen since NPH was released was some form of infect. Limited Resources and these draft videos are great resources and seeing Ryan move off to WoTC is great and sad at the same time. Hopefully the show goes on and you are able to find an acceptable replacement for the furture.

    Good Luck at WoTC Ryan.

  3. On Match 3 with twisted image, you should have waited until after combat damage before using it, that way he would only hit for 2 infect on your guys and not know about the trick.

Sorry to hear your leaving ryan, you will be missed, and congrats on the new gig and helping make MTGO that much better!

  4. Came to point out the twisted image play as well. Even without the instill, your guys would get one less poison counter.

  5. I’m sorry to hear you’re leaving, Ryan. Good luck at WotC, you will certainly be missed.

  6. Thanks for another MSS draft guys – always enjoyed your chatter and play. I wish you the best of luck at Wizards of the Coast, Ryan. Use your experience as regular MTGO user and pull some strings to make it a better experience for all of us. Don’t get eaten by the “system”! ;-) Also congrats to Marshall for making the community team.
I am sure Chris will see both of you during the Community Cup and I am pretty sure that Ryan will be part of it – if only on the wrong side!

    Take care,

    Plejades

  7. I have always thought the first pick is the most interesting :). You were pretty unlucky that all the serious misplays of your opponents didn’t cost them games.

  8. Congrats to both of you gentlemen! Well deserved and looking forward to seeing the fruits of both of your labors in the future.

  9. Congrats to both of you. The video is a nice ending to the series, well done.

  10. Congratulations on your respective successes!

But I’m also commenting to harp on the Twisted Image error. I think it illustrates how a lot of people haven’t thought through just how good this card is. It can save creatures from burn, it can kill creatures POST-combat, as well as an during combat, and it can even help get in the surprise last couple points of damage. It’s a very solid one-mana cantrip, especially considering that blue has a few solid unbalanced creatures (neurok replica, seastrider, darkslick drake). At worst, it cycles for U very easily. I’d be happy to play 1 in every blue deck I’ve drafted, 2 with a good creature base. But by all means, everyone, keep passing them super late…

  11. Hey congratulations to both you guys! That is a true dream job you’ve got there Ryan, and that’s awesome that Marshall will be representing us in the community cup. Thank you guys so much for your videos and podcasts, they’ve really helped me get off the ground as a relative magic newb. I’m sorry to hear you won’t be able to continue the podcasts/videos Ryan (I’m assuming its a contractual obligation from WOTC). You will be sorely missed. Best of luck to both of you, and Marshall please continue the series! As you guys said, big shoes to fill for a co-host, but I’m sure someone will appear to continue the legacy.

  12. M2G1 shows yet another reason why F4 is so much better than F6, haha.
Besides that, congrats to the both of you, and thanks for all you do!

  13. While I feel that it is pretty selfish of me to say that I will miss the commentary in the videos, you’re taking a great step in your life, Ryan. Best of luck to you in your new career, brother!

  14. Just out of curiosity… Match 3 game 1, in the plague myr/stinger vs. anatomist play… couldn’t you wait and simply allow damage to go through. Then, you can take out any pumps he has (so he probably won’t pump), take out the myr, and get the stinger with a -1/-1 counter. That way, he has no outs, and his pumps cannot save him anything.

    Just curious.

  15. Maybe I should elaborate. You had the good play, but not the optimal play. His attack was an admission that the anatomist would beat him (He probably had putrefax in hand). All you had to do was block with the anatomist on the plague myr and simply allow the damage to resolve. If he does nothing, the anatomist kills myr and you can kill the stinger at the end of the turn. If he pumps, you can kill whatever he pumps in response, and still retain your anatomist. Either way, it was a desperation move on his part and you saw the fact that you didn’t need to tap out precombat, but missed the fact you could have two-for-one’d him.

  16. Your round one opponent had you at 9 poison, ample mana and an Ichor Rats in hand. Now that’s bad.

  17. This is just a test. (Oh, and I really want someone to tell me if my comment posted above was valid, or not.) — just a little desperate, really.

    *sigh*

  18. Are you guys planning to run a quick nph/mbs/som draft before ryan leaves?

  19. This is bittersweet. Ryan you will be missed. I am honesty tearing up as I write this… I am so proud/ excited for you. And so optimistic that you are working on MTGO. (I will refrain from complaining about MODO, in this post out of respect :)

Marshall, please continue you provide the best content on limited Magic, possibly the best on Magic in general!

Thank you to both of you, your hard work is much appreciated!

  20. But I will complain about MTGO in this post!

*MTGO is SO hopelessly outdated and un-user friendly that that needs to be COMPLETELY REBUILT.*

I cannot say it any more concisely than that.

  21. Thanks for the kind words, all! We tried to fit in one more video, but it just didn’t happen. I look forward to watching Marsh’s videos as a fan. :)

Jo3yJoJo: I share the frustrations of the MTGO-playing community, but as someone who has been on since the very beginning, I can say that it has gotten better, and seems headed in the right direction. I look forward to helping it get there.
