Haven’t started watching yet, but need to get this in. PLEASE DON’T DRAFT STORM.
Seriously, is there ANY real difference between this format and Cube? The only difference I can see is that you get to keep these cards.
I think you should cut one homunculus, for a 17th land! Almost every game you struggled with your mana. Also homunculus isn’t much better then frogemite!
In the last game you could have blocked two sapprolings to prevent 8 damage instead of 6, so you are at 3 life. But of course it is much cooler to be at one
Great draft, great game. Yeah, as Random said, you could ended with 3 life but It doesn’t matter now
Love your vids, keep them comin’!
Great Video!! Thanks Marshall
Loved the video. Pretty reasonable play all around. I feel like if you’re going to play affinityesque decks, you need to spend time getting the sequencing perfectly. I noticed at least once where you played a myr enforcer first, then couldn’t cast sanctum gargoyle. My real problem was with not doing some tromp math. It just felt sloppy. You had basically perfect information before your last attack except for what his last card was. You correctly read the tromp but didn’t play around a possible removal spell even though he was going to have all 5 colors available to him for any number of things such as electrolyze. Double pumping the cloud ranger didn’t appreciably change the clock either since it was either tromp or lose in 2 turns at worst. Leaving back more blockers keeps you from getting blown out. You should have at least known that you would be going to one and not just dead. Sorry if this sounds harsh, I don’t mean it to be. I thought you played very well otherwise. Thanks for the great content.
Also, count me as another LR listener who is very happy to have Brian Wong as your co-host.
Great stuff, love it as ever
For one fan’s opinion – definitely rather see more MMA than Dragon’s Maze.
That format seems done to death already, and MMA is just so packed with sweet cards, sweeter decks and crazy interactions.
Putting two 4/4′s in front of 6 power on the last play just seemed messy. You could have been at 3 life instead of 1, which is significant if he had something like glacial ray.
Was a very nice artifact deck there though. Seemed to be completely wide open with all those enforcers and gargoyles going around.
Thanks for drafting a fresh archetype. It seems like every MMA draft video I see involves picking up every rebel or Imperiosaur, and it’s getting tiresome. I’m still hoping to see Arcane or Storm at some point, though.
Great games Marshall. Although I loved the Draft matches, the brief Modern duel was great. I wish you would post more constructed material on the web!
What has happened to your podcast ? 23d June was last time =/
@Europe. Marshal moved LR podcast to host himself, instead of through mtgcast, due to the latter taking on sponsors that he couldn’t have any say over + conflict with existing sponsor. Access the podcast through lrcast.com instead (scroll down for RSS feed link). Frighteningly, (or is that “impressively”) the podcast has gotten even better since you last listened.
Not used to this from you, but M1G1 you did 2 missplays or at least missed something:
Post-Combat Esperzoa costs you the Modular of Stinger if he trades.
If you cast Homunculus and Enforcer before Esperzoa dies you can cast Enforcer, this way you had to spent you next turn
Anyway, great work, keep it up!
