  1. Overall I enjoyed the draft but I do feel that R3G1 was winnable if some decisions were made better. The big turn that I feel was misplayed was the turn where Parasitic Implant was on the Digester and you didn’t even consider giving your own guy -1/-1 and pumping the fallen +1/+1. I think that that option was fine.

Likely he would have blocked the Digester with the Angler since he wants to get the 1/1 myr token. He would snap block the 3/1 with Batterskull. I don’t know if attacking with the Myr would have screwed up this plan but I think he just takes the 1 infect if you do. The reason I think this play is better is that you are giving yourself a better chance to win potentially.

Overall R3 was just really bad. The deck didn’t preform and the opponent drew fairly well after the initial few turns. The real probem with the deck is lack of hard removal.

Also regarding the draft. I think when the option for White Sun Zenith came up you were in a fine position to jump on it. You have two Souleaters that you could easily have played and you had at least one other fine white card. I think at that point you would have been G/W which is a terrible color combo (as your R1 and R2 opponents learned) but it was a pick to consider.

  2. by “was winnable” I mean “was possibly winnable”. I think you lost like 10-15% to win because of a few decisions. Overall you played tight and the game was still every unlikely to be a W.

  3. Nice draft. I like the fact that you are inviting guests – your buddy and you work well together in this vid. It’s certainly worth a repeat in the future. Keep it up!

  4. As ACP said, I would have jumped on the White Sun’s Zenith. I’ve found that it is much more important to follow the signals pack 2 in this format, because the cards in Besieged are generally better than the cards in the other two packs, so you want to be open when you get to pack two, and pick up all the goodies.

  5. The download link for match 1 downloads match 3 instead. However, you can copy the link and change the R3 in the address to R1 and download the correct match.

  6. The main guy sure does a lot of gorilla math in the combat steps. His buddy seems to have a much better idea of how to play this game.

  7. Why not consider going 24 spells 16 lands? You have 2 myrs plus the spellbomb and talisman and like you said your curve really tops out at 4 which should almost never be a problem

  8. glistening oil over tezz gambit or legionaire was ugly and to be honest i fast forwareded the draft after that.

Card has incremental value similar to a card like forced worship, not like a pinger (which some people compare it to). It’s about a 6th pick.

  9. The bringing a buddy idea itself is ok, but Woodrow’s mic was WAY too loud compared to yours. I had to turn it down to make his a reasonable sound, and then I could hardly hear your comments… … only other choice was having woodrow blaring in my ear.

  10. @ACP – I reviewed the play, and I feel like I would have made the same one. So you are saying we should have just killed our own Digester and attacked with the Myr and the Fallen? He blocks the fallen with his husk of a Tangle Angler, or with his Germ, but either way we get in for less poison and have only the Plague Myr left over. I can’t figure how this would give us a better chance of winning. I haven’t looked back at the WSZ pick, but I will. I don’t think that card is particularly amazing, and it’s typically very difficult to cast, so I value it lower than some possibly as well.

@Marc – Thanks dude. I agree, Woodrow did a great job and I’ll have him back on. The weird thing is that he is normally a really funny dude, but was in business mode for his first video I guess.

@oraymw – I agree with what you said about the MBS pack and I tend to now prep for those packs with my picks in NPH. I don’t value WSZ super highly, but I’ll take a look when I go back over the video.

@Starwarer – Sorry I didn’t realize that was the case, looks like PlanetWalls fixed it. Either way, appreciate you putting it in the comments :)

    @Planet Walls – Thanks :)

@MoveUp – I think of it more as Orangutan math myself. :) Woodrow is a good player in his own right, which is why he was on the video with me.

@dragon7284 – I didn’t even consider it. I think I was thinking with guys like Tangle Angler and a bunch of tricks, that hitting land drops would be crucial. I see your point for sure, and maybe just auto-piloted it a bit there.

@mark kelso – I don’t agree. I think Glistening Oil is quite strong, and can take out/nullify mutliple guys over the course of a game. Tezzeret’s Gambit is a card I like to have in my pile, but not over removal. Forced Worship is just awful, I consider it essentially unplayable. It’s *way* worse than Glistening Oil, and they aren’t really comparable.

@asdf – Sorry about the sound difference, it doesn’t really come through when I watch it. I will try to get them closer though in the future if this is a real issue. Also, I completely feel you about having Woodrow blaring in your ear ;P

Thanks for watching and commenting guys, appreciate the feedback.

  11. Thanks again for awesome content!

I do have one pet suggestion, and since third time’s the charm:

Give Grafted Exoskeleton a try one time!
During drafting you mention it is unplayable. And i certainly disagree.

I am not saying that it would fit right into this deck, as the deck is already pretty good and you have 4 pump spells.

If your deck was just a little different, though, it could actually be pretty good.

I know from the show that you hate strike-out-homerun-cards, but sometimes you just need those homeruns!
For further discussion, see my previews two posts on Grafted Exoskeletons to earlier vids/shows and an email I wrote.

I am not saying it is awesome, but it is far from unplayable.

On a side note, Myosynth Fiend is quite good. Especially when you have the early infect rush, you can easily get them to 5+/5+. Sure, it doesn’t deal infect (unless you also have the much maligned Exoskeleton). But what are they gonna do? Not block? Eventually they have to.

  12. I guess I just value WSZ higher than you do. For me, I usually cast it for anywhere between 6 and 10, which means that I’m getting 6 to 14 power on the board at instant speed. It often puts the game away, but when it doesn’t, it will occasionally show back up to win the game later. For me, I would pick it above any of the commons, though just barely above BTI.
