First of all, I’m glad to see you playing the Merfolk deck again. The first one is one of my favorites. Also what do you think of the Merfolk decks that add Kira to the list?
Second I was actually thinking of asking if you’d do the 8Rack discard deck yourself since it does seem pretty interesting.
Anyways thank you for the video hoping to see more.
I do love merfolk a lot too. I have thought about adding Kira to the deck but I don’t know what I would cut. It does seem powerful against the UWR variants that did well at the pro tour. And I do want to try out the Rack deck along with some other sweet decks that did well in Valencia, like Add Nauseum.
The final game for match 1:
I think you could have done some good plays with the second Aether Vial and Reejerey. Also not using vapor snag to save your first reejerey from lightning bolt seemed poor since you could answer his 2/2 with dismember and saving rejeerey provides you additional tempo and a quicker clock
Round 1, as soon as I saw that Looting, I knew it was Storm – Probe was already a really strong tell, but it could have been a different or “oldschool” U/R Twin build, but Looting nailed it completely.
Your last opponent was probably playing Skred Red. It’s (usually) a mono red deck using Snow-Covered Mountains to abuse Skred and Scrying Sheets. The deck usually also plays Koth, Blood Moon and Thundermaw Hellkite or Stormbreath Dragon main deck.
I’ve cut a Thassa (though I do love her so) and a Master for two Kiras. Kira also block fliers. Thanks for doing Merfolk
