  1. So… -2 life, counter target legacy format?

Free cantrip/ extirpate/burn/pump say what? I guess we like free spells.

Standard poison likely to be pretty broken. lol @ poison counterspell and glistener elf. Infect overrun….

    Also, thorpor orb~ Thoptor/Foundry….

Shrines seem neat for limited, potential constructed (especially red and blue).

  2. I really enjoy the Splicer cycle. The Exarch cycle is also decent. I like the Gravedigger and the Flashing turtle.

  3. One mana infecter (Glistener Elf) is the one card I was sure they would create and put in common. Shrines seem to be really unbalanced, especially for limited. The red and white I would put into limited decks of any color. Green and blue I guess I wouldn’t use in any color.

  4. Most comments so far seem more concerned with Pauper cards. lol I like this set over all and definably see it changing standard abit like all 3rd sets seem to do.

  5. Not terribly excited for this set. Don’t really like Phyrexian mana and that plays a *huge* role in this set.

It’s a shame they are making magic faster and faster. I know, I know, power creep and all, but I liked the change of pace with Rise of the Eldrazi and was hoping they’d do more sets like that. Give everyone time to draw out of some light mana/color screw and play their cards/game.

And the green Phyrexian mana Giant Growth is just going to be terrible to play around. It can go into *every* limited deck! ><

  6. somehow im having issues with login but anyhow to comment. Zage im going to guess that either you’re a casual player or control player because anyone who like fast aggro decks and turning creatures sideways is going to love a faster paced enviroment, Zendikar being a prime example of that.

  7. @Ranth: I am a control player ánd a casual player, so good analysis.
And I do think Zendikar was pretty terrible (especially limited), so that’s also a well-calculated guess by you. What one random post can say about a person’s magic preferences, right? =)

Btw I (like most people I think) believe control decks are going to thrive (if you consider Caw-Blade control) in this enviroment. Not sure if anyone is looking forward to that.

  8. Some of the cards are just nuts, I cant wait to play this set in draft, so many bomby cards.
Praetor cycle is interesting, and some of the free cards are going to be hard to play around

  9. free spells where NEVER a good thing, but i guess they will never learn that… – I like Batterskull, formatwarping card imho.

  10. And this time I don’t see any bad rares. Each of them is good either in limited, or makes a good combo, or simply great in any format. Well, maybe Xenograft is overcosted, but probably many decks will be built around it.

  11. @StewardUlk – Batterskull is just insane, it’s going to change every format, you rip one in limited and your good for the game

  12. ok here is a good question do you become invincible with this card combo from this set. and its from poison and reg damage. first have phyrexian unlife in play and then have melira sylvok. ???
