What ______ am i reading?
Greetings anoon,
Michael’s offering “Standard Spike” is a not a strict obligation to the Standard metagame but rather his own style of playing Magic: the Gathering. He usually focuses on the Standard metagame as there are a lot of high-profile reasons to excel within it, but occasionally a tournament (such as the upcoming Legacy MOCS) or another reason pulls Mr. Hetrick away from Standard. I hope that this is alleviates any confusing you may have had.
Also, please refrain from using nasty phrases.
Cheers,
Chris
Seems like people are having a hard time understanding that his name does not limit what he plays. Not a fan of standard, so legacy is definitely a fun change.
Wow. You just don’t even know how to pilot this deck. Why make an instructional video when you don’t know what you’re doing? Waste of time.
@Kynan
I am pretty sure it would be easier to level with you if you could share with us how this deck is supposed to be played. Perhaps you could point out, say, 3 plays where you feel Michael Hetrick should have done otherwise.
After all Michael Hetrick has some nice results in his backpack, so im inclined to believe he knows how to run this deck better than you, especially when you are not able to point out the mistakes.
Otherwise you end up wasting our time reading your comment
Is counterbalance really as bad as it looked in these matches? It looked awful, and Maverick should be one of the decks it is stronger against. Maybe I am not appreciating how many of his spells might have been used sub-optimally in order to play around/through it?
Kynan hit the nail on the head. The list of misplays is miles long. Kynan doesn’t have to list three because Michael does it himself. Every other play is followed by, “I screwed that up.” or some similar comment.
He left wrong cards on top more than a couple times, didn’t play fetch lands when he should have to allow him to shuffle, didn’t bounce Teeg at the end of turn in the second game, cast an Entreat the Angels for full mana when less than full was still lethal and would have left Counterspell open. All of this and I’m not even through game two yet.
It’s not surprising that you don’t get good results with a deck (and then end up not liking it) when you don’t understand how it should be played and the nuances behind it.
Counterbalance-top doesn’t look to impressive from this view point. But i can assure you Robin that it it is lot more intimidating for the opponent. Who can never play 1cmc spells.
