Hi Michael. Big fan of the videos! Keep it up.
Just a quick note:
I’m not sure if I’m miscalculating this (it’s quite late here in Australia and it’s been a long day), but is it possible that you had the win on board on the second last turn of the final game in Round 3?
From my calculations… You have 6 mana to play with, which essentially allows you to cast a pod for 3 (paying 2 life) and then pod 3 times (paying 6 more life… going to 4).
Meanwhile, you have Blade Splicer + Golem on board.
The play here, I think, is to sac Blade splicer, get Huntmaster + Wolf token. Then, sac the huntmaster with pod to get Zealous, “untapping” and giving the Wolf haste. Then attack for 8 damage. Then post-combat, grab Inferno Titan off the conscripts for the final 3. Is this a viable play? Or am I missing something?
Once again, thanks for the videos!
Blade Splicer / Restoration Angel board stall battles: welcome to the wondrous creature-centric future of Magic. :\
Hey,
I like your videos but I think you misbuilt this deck quite a bit. I really think you need to play a few duals in your deck even though it makes them come into play untapped. You play a lot of powerful creatures so sometimes skipping one for a turn because a dual has to come into play tapped is worth the risk of not just getting screwed. Also it’s very important against Delver since a lot of versions play 3-4 Gut Shots which make your mana dorks much less reliable, making your mana terrible with the current setup. I also think you underestimate the power of Township, I don’t think you can ever play less than 3. In the mirror and against other Blade Splicer decks (like the Esper Midrange deck) the board stalls out very often where Township is such a trump. It’s also insane with Huntmaster because you have more things to do while flipping it. These are some things I don’t like about your list but the rest seems reasonable.
