You can use skeleton in graveyard with abolisher in play because its a “creature card’ when in graveyard and not a ‘creature’. Creatures can only be in play as they are permanents.
That’s a nice version of U/W, really enjoyed the videos and a few of the plays you made, particularly in the games you lost. About the mana base, is Inkmoth too crucial to cut one for perhaps a Seachrome Coast (if not playing an extra sword)? Seems like Day has gotten good again, but that can change weekly.
I’ve been running a similar version, but with a few more win cons (2 sphinx and grave titan) and planeswalkers (2x elspeh and gideon). I don’t yet have the full suite of Snapcasters and play only two Alchemy main. I’ve found sword to be overkill often, since by the time you can play and equip it while keeping up the counter wall the mana is nearly superfluous.
UWb seems pretty well positioned at the moment, but I The biggest problem I have had is vs. UB with drownyards.
I played this deck at States. While good it always felt a win condition or two away from being good. Sure you could jam some Sphinxes, but that takes away from the purity of the “all-instants” theme.
Also just auto loses to Nephalia Drownyard :/
In however many games you played I think you activated nexus once? Do you really think it’s worth having considering how you play the deck? I think the nexus’ are great in there if you actually use them and actively employ them every time you can get away with it to threaten another win con over holding up mana for an EoT card draw or something. Maybe you would want to cut them down to 2 like many ramps run?
IMO it looks like you aren’t using some of the deck to it’s full potential, maybe this is why it feels short on win cons?
Also, I would main another sword easy, maybe even 2. . .
awesome, back on top of your game if you ask me! (i’ll let that one thing slip :D). i would really miss these vids!
Just watched the last game of round 4 and saw that you used nexus a little more, still I think there were plenty of times that you were sitting on huge mana and holding nexus back. Also most of those matchups were very light on spot removal and had very few answers to fliers (and you almost never held nexus back to actually block).
GGs though, I agree also that the sideboard needs some work though.
@yastreb: Good point. I still don’t know how it makes sense that you can activate the ability in the graveyard.
Regarding Sword being overkill (or unnecessary), Sword just goes very well with what this deck is trying to do. If I ever had a Sword on turn 5 it would have looked a lot more impressive. Inkmoth Nexus would be a bit more important with a 3rd Sword (Turn 3 Sword with Nexus in play is nice).
In any case, if you want a more legitimate UW Control deck, Andrew Cuneo 6-0ed the STD portion of Worlds with an interesting decklist. There are some abnormal card choices, to be sure.
